Lay It Bare: The Naked Heart of Personal Narrative

Join me at the Sitka Center on Cascade Head, the most beautiful place on the Oregon Coast, to read and write and work on our creative non-fiction together. All levels welcome.

Sitka Catalog Description: The most successful works of memoir, whether book or essay, combine self-imagination, a bare naked heart and a fearless dose of honesty. This workshop will be structured around finding our way into this place. Read excerpts, write, share work, and discuss different methods of non-fiction storytelling. We will investigate ways to unearth material from our lives as we learn constructive editing techniques. Our focus together will be generating new work. You’ll leave with several fragments and starts, and one longer piece to return to on your own.
