Broadway Books Reading

May 1 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

I’ll be reading along with Seattle author and journalist Kristen Millares Young – both of us in support of the novel publication of Kate Gale. Her new book is Under a Neon Sun, from Three Rooms Press.

Here’s more info from Broadway Books Event Page:

Kate Gale will be reading from her debut novel, Under a Neon Sun, published by Three Rooms Press. She will be joined by Margaret Malone and Kristen Millares Young.

Under a Neon Sun, a compelling and incisive novel, is a story that will resonate with so many of us who struggled during the pandemic. For people living in houses and apartments, with stay-at-home jobs, the pandemic was inconvenient. For Mia–a student and housekeeper whose budget is so tight she lives in her car–the pandemic destroys the very source of her paltry income. Fortunately, gutsy and funny Mia is a determined survivor. After weeks of cutting her limited spending even further, missing meals along the way, her wealthy employers become desperate for her services again. This time, she’s determined not to let them take advantage of her as they have in the past. Her newfound confidence gives her new hope as she works to escape the shackles of poverty on her own terms.

Kate Gale is the Co-Founder and Managing Editor of Red Hen Press. She is the author of seven books of poetry including The Loneliest GirlThe Goldilocks Zone, and Echo Light. Kate has also written six librettos including Rio de Sangre, a libretto for an opera with composer Don Davis. Under a Neon Sun is her first novel.

Kristen Millares Young is the author of the novel Subduction, named as a staff pick by the Paris Review and called “whip-smart” by the Washington Post.
